Equipment for longer hikes:
On many hikes you will pass streams and lakes where your dog can drink and cool off. Since there can be long dry spells in the high mountains, you should always have a water bottle and a folding bowl with you on longer hikes.
Leashes are mandatory almost everywhere to protect wild animals and grazing livestock. In case of doubt, the leash also protects your pet from falling on steep terrain.
If your four-legged friend is not particularly good at climbing mountains, you should have a dog backpack with you so that you can carry him for a while when he gets tired or in steep places.
You must wear a muzzle in the gondolas and public transport, so it’s best to bring your own.
Otherwise, treats and food may be necessary on longer hikes or can serve as a little motivation.
